We want to tell you about something incredible that happened recently at Politeknika Txorierri. At the end of September, our centre hosted an event that revolved around a very interesting and, in our opinion, extremely necessary topic: Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to education. A group of female students, teachers and company representatives gathered to discuss how AI can improve teaching, but also to question some of the challenges it presents.
This event took place as part of the activity of an international Erasmus+ project, called WISE-AI, one of its main objectives being to provide AI training and thus improve entrepreneurial skills among young women, in order to address gender inequality in AI. Did you know that only 22% of employees in this field are women? This is something we want to change, and that is why we are working on initiatives like this one.
We encourage the participation of women in this project
In this project, we try to foster innovation and support sustainable development through collaborative and innovative educational approaches focused on the themes of clean energy and climate action. We believe that innovation can be a driver for more sustainable development, and AI is one such tool that can help us achieve this.
Most significantly, this project is not just about theory. We are encouraging women’s participation in AI by creating inclusive educational materials that serve as inspiration. We are promoting sustainable development by merging AI with the SDG goals. Furthermore, we hold meetings, such as the first one we held in June in Cyprus, to plan the key phases of the project.
Gathering information is the first step in shaping this project, so we are launching surveys and focus groups in each of the partner countries. Like the one we held in our school, where we had an intense, inspiring and necessary conversation. But if you couldn’t attend, don’t worry, because this is just the beginning!
Give us your opinion
We want to hear your opinion in order to continue building a future where AI and women have a leading role. That’s why you have this link so you can read our first newsletter, where you have a section where you can contribute with your ideas in a survey.
What do you think, will you join us in this AI adventure?
