PlAn for Green OppoRtunities: Be A Digital scIentific chanGeMaker – PARADIGM

MAIN OBJECTIVES:
PARADIGM is a project that aims to increase environmental awareness and active engagement in green initiatives through the development of innovative curricula based on STEM methodology. PARADIGM has developed innovative methodologies and tools to observe the environment through the assembly, installation and use of ESP32 boards with sensors that allow students and teachers to monitor specific locations in the center and analyze, among others, temperature and humidity or CO2 levels over a period of time.
MAIN RESULTS:
PARADIGM activities result in the development of three project outcomes:
- Design and development of an online course for teachers on environmental awareness in the classroom. The course also has examples and proposals of interdisciplinary challenges applicable to the classroom: https://e-trainingcentre.gr/enrol/index.php?id=173
- Development of environmental observatories based on IoT-STEM. Teachers have been guided in the assembly, installation and connection of the ESP32 board with Arduino IDE and sensors to carry out challenges in the classroom to observe the environment over some time. This data is collected and analyzed in the online ThingsBoard observatories, which allows for more comprehensive data visualization.
- Design of a Citizen Science Platform to serve as a virtual space and repository. It is an online space where students and teachers from European centers can share the results of their measurements and compare them with those of other centers. In addition, the platform includes a series of resources such as video tutorials, among others, to support users in their learning process.
