The SECOVE Congress has been a great experience! Very interesting conferences, talks from people from all over the world, visit to the Aquarium of Donostia, … Without a doubt it has been an incredible event with which the Politeknika Txorierri team has enjoyed a lot.

This international meeting was held on July 2nd and 3rd at the iconic Donostia Aquarium. The event was organized by GAIA, Ondoan and Politeknika Txorierri and we have met with experts from different countries, very influential in the field of Vocational Training. It has been a total success. We have had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in our own experiences and emerging innovations in VET.

Opportunities to share knowledge and best practices

It was a great opportunity to meet with leading figures from the education sector, such as Jorge Arévalo, Deputy Minister of Vocational Training of the Basque Government, and political leaders, such as Eneko Goia, Mayor of Donostia, with whom we were able to dialogue and learn together. The round tables and plenary sessions have allowed us to share knowledge, experiences and best practices, always with a focus on excellence, innovation and sustainability.

Our colleague Anabel Menica moderated the round table at the congress on the situation of VET in the SECOVE project partner countries, with the participation of representatives from Slovakia, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece, who shared their situations and challenges in vocational training.

In this aspect, the gender inequality that exists in training and professions focused on industry has also been addressed, where it was highlighted that the problem comes from below, in childhood and the prevailing stereotypes.

We also focused part of the event on sustainability and renewable energies. We recalled the urgent need to integrate good practices at all levels of vocational training. This commitment is crucial for the future of our planet and also opens up new employment opportunities for our students.

What a great aquarium!

One of the moments that we will keep for our memories was the guided visit to the Donostia Aquarium. The marine fauna that they take care of there is incredible, with a richness and diversity that has left us with our mouths open. This visit not only allowed us to appreciate the beauty of the marine world, but also made us reflect on the importance of sustainability, one of the topics discussed at the congress. Seeing how marine ecosystems work in harmony has made us focus on how we can apply these principles to our own projects and Centers of Excellence in Vocational Education and Training (CoVE).

The SECOVE Congress has given us valuable knowledge and opportunities for collaboration and above all an inspiration to continue working for a promising future in Vocational Education.

See you next time!
