Implementing Solidarity-based Service Learning to enhance digital cultural heritage – TOGETHER

DURATION:

2021-2023

MAIN OBJECTIVE:

The TOGETHER project aims to help secondary school students engage creatively and critically with cultural resources through the intelligent adoption of digital technologies. This paradigm shift calls for a rethinking of cultural heritage, which must be digitally enhanced to improve its flexibility, accessibility and potential for inclusion. Teacher training, in this context, is one of the main challenges, as education professionals may lack confidence and experience in developing young people’s creative digital skills. For this reason, TOGETHER supports this group with appropriate training and professional development to enable digital creativity to emerge and be applied to cultural heritage.

MAIN RESULTS:

  • Teacher’s manual and competency framework

The Manual is a significant pedagogical resource that has been made available for the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of teachers and management bodies of secondary and high schools, providing them with an innovative educational model that leverages digital creativity skills to formulate concepts of Solidarity Learning and Service and Project Based Learning aimed at involving students in initiatives for the digital enhancement of local cultural heritage.

  • TOGETHER Digital Creativity Academy

The Academy is an online educational platform that contains the digitized version of the Manual modules and a series of digital tools, didactic materials and multimodal resources complementary to the Manual. The aim is to create an open online environment useful for teachers and school governing bodies in secondary and high schools to integrate learning from the Handbook, thus enhancing their learning experience. The Academy also serves to create a social hub among all users dispersed across the EU, which will lead to the formation of a community.
