DURATION:
2022-2024
MAIN OBJECTIVE:
This project responds to the needs of young people by providing easy access, through a climate data dashboard, to existing scientific data and information sources related to climate. Through the creation of teacher training, it also addresses the approaches necessary for young people to work with high-quality scientific data and reliable sources of information on the challenges they face. It also promotes an active citizenship approach that engages youth in active engagement in their local areas using the research-based approaches of citizen scientists to examine and address climate issues.
MAIN RESULTS:
Following the ambition to integrate climate change and environmental education into secondary education and teacher training, the project has the following results:
- Analysis of partner curricula and the potential for teaching the future, climate education and the use of open data.
- The creation of an online climate data dashboard as a teaching resource for teachers. It collects climate data and scientific information that can be used by schools to support learning and teaching. It offers opportunities inside and outside the classroom, developed from an analysis of available resources and opportunities.
- The creation of an online teacher training course focused on teaching about climate change and including suggestions on how to integrate climate education into different subjects, using scientific data and encouraging student engagement and active citizenship in local issues, e.g. through citizen science approaches.
