Transversal competences through ETHAZI methodology

At Politeknika Txorierri we work using the ETHAZI methodology in which the student, in addition to acquiring the technical competences that he/she must obtain, achieves other transversal competences that will help him/her in his/her professional career.

That is, teamwork, communication, involvement, initiative, responsibility…. To this end, we work in the classroom through real-life based challenges.

ACADEMI CHALLENGES

  • Digital herbarium. We created an herbarium of trees and shrubs of the Basque Country using QR technology, creating botanical itineraries through the technology park.
  • First aid in nature. The students carry out the challenge in collaboration with the Red Cross, obtaining official accreditation from the organisation during the challenge.

LEARNING CHALLENGES

  • Ecosystems of the Basque Country. We made interpretative panels of the most representative ecosystems of the Basque Country and we inaugurated them with self-guided tours with students in the 1st year of high school.
  • Circular economy. We run awareness-raising workshops aimed at students who actively use the school’s workshops to inform them about the eco-productive situation of their respective sectors and to raise awareness of the eco-social situations arising from their activities.
  • Igurco. We carry out workshops on different environmental themes aimed at users of the Igurco residences, making them the protagonists of the activities proposed by the students.

CHALLENGES FOR COMPANIES

  • Activities in natural spaces. This is a challenge that is developed in collaboration with the Parketxes of the Natural Spaces of Bizkaia. The students propose the renovation, adaptation or new implementation of equipment in these spaces that help people to visit the parks while respecting the conservation of the space and promoting sustainable tourism.
